Putin suggests Medvedev work on measures regarding ruble growth

SOCHI, Jul 19 (PRIME) -- The Russian ruble has firmed despite volatility on commodity markets, and President Vladimir Putin suggested on Tuesday that Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev discuss it.

“We are closely tracking the situation in the economy together and we know that some strengthening of the national currency is taking place,” Putin said.

“The ruble is rising despite the well-known price volatility on the commodity markets, and this is why we should think what and how we should operate soon taking the factors into consideration. The government is now beginning active work on the budget, we are returning to a three-year planning period, and I hope that these factors will be taken into account in the short- and medium-term.”

Medvedev said he will held government meetings to discuss the factors during government meetings where a 2017–2019 budget will be discussed this week and in the two coming weeks.
